How can I tell if a charity is good?
The FTC strongly recommends checking with organizations such as the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, Charity Navigator, CharityWatch, or GuideStar which will help you get a better picture of how much of the charity’s donations go towards expenses and overhead.
How are charities measured?
We calculate a charity’s ratio of liabilities to assets by comparing the organization’s total liabilities to total assets in the most recent tax year, and then we assign a score using the conversion scale listed in our Financial Score Conversions and Tables.
