Veterans Appreciaion Project

Veterans Appreciation Project

The project plan was to collect toiletries, food, water, etc., to put these items in decorated paper bags and to give them to veterans at the Vet Center in appreciation for their service and sacrifice. The bags were delivered on February 28, the during Fayetteville’s Month of Compassion.

Participating in the project were Fayetteville High School students in Mark Whites ambassador class made Valentines and Eliza Williams, a sixth grader at McNair Middle School decorated 30 bags. Clients in Lifestyles art classes decorated the remaining bags following a lesson on the meaning of kindness and compassion by Kathy Malstrom and Pattie Williams.

Many community members contributed supplies including Claire Williams, Rosie Presley, Kathy Malstrom, Rita Caver, Connie Crisp, and Pattie Williams. Plans are being discussed on making compassion bags for other organizations in the community in the coming months.
Thanks to all who participated.
